Peace out Silicon Valley. We've had enough of tech, talk, and tickling VCs. We're hitting the road for the top 8 outdoor escapes near San Fran. Time to swap that iPad for a beer - the only thing we're about to scale is a mountain side. Weekend warriors unite!
1) Get wet at Green Valley Falls
Nothing says weekend getaway like waterfalls! You can pay big $ to go play here, or do a 6-mile solo hike (on stealth mode).
Don't forget to pack your swimmies and a few cold ones.
Where: Hidden in hills of Fairfield, CA
@globalcamo, love your work.
2) Baker Beach
This public San Fran beach is the perfect place to catch some rays. Views of the Golden Gate Bridge are on point, picnic spots are available, clothing-optional sunbathing is a thing, and if you're lucky, you can even spot harbor porpoises "frolicking" (thanks, Parks Conservancy) in the ocean. Yes indeed.
Where: On the Presidio’s western shoreline
Thanks for sharing your Stamp with us, @aimeekphotog, you really know how to weekend!
3) Point Reyes Hike
Panoramic ocean views and spectacular sea-side cliffs. There's just something about that Cali coastline. Who needs VR when you've got views like this on your doorsetp. Take the California Coastal Trail along Point Reyes to soak it all in.
Where: Inverness, CA
Stamp'd by @svisalli. Thanks for keeping things real.
4) A Leisurely Sunset Stroll
Not keen on too much adventure? Well, taking a romantic stroll in one of San Francisco's many parks during the "golden hour" might be right up your alley.
This wise Stamp user suggests grabbing a bite in the Marina District before walking it off by wandering to the Palace of Fine Arts and up to Pacific Heights to catch the sunset over the city. Cue corny love song and make-out scene!
Where: Pacific Heights, SF
@anton you've wooed us! But we're stealing this tip on our next date.
5) Tour de San Francisco
Did you know that you can pedal your way from Fisherman's Wharf to Sausalito, across the Golden Gate Bridge? This Stamp user recommends stopping for lunch at one of many quaint outdoor cafes while admiring SF from the other side of the bay. Fret not, there is a ferry back to Fisherman's Wharf. We won't judge.
*Aerodynamic outfit not included
Where: Golden Gate Bridge, SF
Hello from the other side, @tcenar!
6) Tennesse Valley, y'all
Just north of SF, you can hike to this secluded beach spot in Tennesse Valley!
Pro tip: Once you get there, you can climb a few stairs up the surrounding hills to get a bird's eye view of the beach below.
Where: Marin Headlands, Golden Gate Recreation Area
Big ups to @aimeekphotog for sharing her Stamp!
7) Muir Woods National Monument
It's time to unleash your inner hippy. Not too far from the hustle and bustle of the city, you can unwind amongst the giant redwoods at Muir Woods.
Where: Golden Gate Recreation Area, north of SF
@kaylanreid, thanks for sharing this redwoods wonderland with us!
8) San Fran Sailing
It doesn't get much more San Francisco than this! On the off chance that you don't have your own sailboat, you can hit up San Francisco Sailing Company - they'll hook you up with a sailing tour of the bay and a cooler box full of booze.
Where: Pier 39, San Fran
We like your style @littlemissjade.
PS - you should share this post with someone you know in San Francisco so they can #BucketListIt. They will thank you.
